

Scholar Athlete of the Month

Sports Radio 100.9 The Mitt's Scholar-Athlete of the Month is presented by Fisher Companies and gets awarded to one local high school student each month, based on their academic and athletic achievements. Each winner earns $500 towards their post-high school endeavors.

Winners can add this honor to college applications and will be interviewed with a highlight played on Sports Radio 100.9 The Mitt. Full interviews with each recipient can be found below.

Scholar Athletes of the Month 2024-25
Logan Snyder - Bullock Creek
Logan Snyder is a member of the Bullock Creek Golf Team. A team that was returned to the varsity level because Logan and his classmates made it happen. In the classroom, Logan maintains a 3.94 GPA, while being dual enrolled at Delta College. Logan participated in multiple extracurricular activities including volunteering at the Midland Miracle Field. Logan will enroll at Ferris State in the fall in their PGA Golf Management program.

Logan Broekhizen - Michigan Lutheran Seminary
​
Logan Broekhizen is a multi-sport athlete at Michigan Lutheran Seminary. He competed in football, basketball and track. He is the only 4-year varsity starter on the O-Line in MLS football history. In the classroom, Logan maintains a 3.98 GPA, with multiple extra-circular activities including Concert Choir. Logan will play football and attend Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Breanna Campbell - Gladwin
​
Breanna Campbell is a multi-sport athlete at Gladwin High School. She is a team captain in volleyball, basketball and track & field. Breanna has two school records, in the 100 and 200 meter dash. In the classroom, Breanna maintains a 3.5 GPA, with multiple college credit courses as well as being a member of the broadcasting club. Breanna will run track and attend Ferris State University in the fall.

Karie Keefer - Freeland
​
Karie Keefer is a multi-sport athlete at Freeland She competed in cross country, basketball and track. Over her four seasons, Keefer was all-state three times in Cross Country, four times in Track and amassed over 1500 points on the hardwood. In the classroom, Karie maintains a 3.97 GPA, with multiple extra-circular activities. Karie will play basketball at Northwood University and pursue a Sports Management degree.

Craig Hurst - Midland
​
Craig Hurst is a football player at Midland High School. In the classroom, Craig maintains a 4.49 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and captain of the Robotics team. This past summer, Craig earned a full scholarship to Michigan Tech's engineering scholars summer program.

Emma Tinson - Breckenridge
​
Emma Tinson is a multi-sport athlete at Breckenridge High School. She has earned all-conference honors in volleyball and softball. In the classroom, Emma maintains a 3.95 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society and a Huskie Pack Mentor.

Alex Jaffe - Heritage
​
Alex Jaffe is a multi-sport athlete at Heritage High School. He played soccer for all four years, serving as a captain for three. In his senior year, Alex joined the football team. In the classroom, Alex maintains a 4.12 GPA and participated in DECA where he has won a State Championship and competed in a International Tournament.
